At the end of the day...

As pretty much everyone who appears on the Keremy Jyle show says at some point, at the end of the day right, at the end of the day, tennis is not a game of two halves. There is no time limit, the match ends when one player wins the required number of sets. Last night Andy Murray performed what some might describe as a miracle, turning the game around and coming back from le mâchoires de la défaite at the hands of Gasquet. Murray blew a gasket? Well, he blew his credibility by showing off a bicep in a manner that would have been reminiscent of a young Schwarzenegger, save for the fact that Arnold actually had muscles that could carry off such a gesture, whereas Murray's Adam's apple is more impressive than the chicken wing he displayed. OK, I know, it was a gesture more designed to suggest he has the strength to go for five sets, which would mean that his game has matured, but such posturing was lost on us at least (and revealed a degree of immaturity?), and his actions met with a fair amount of derision.

So, Henman Hill will now be known as Murray Molehill, and Murray will fight on in the next round. Maybe the hill should be known as Murray Mump, given his surly head down approach to the post match interview. Getting back to my original point, the match went on until it was almost dark, and so we had a late one here (no change there then). Once the last grainy photo had been prepared for the site (they were grainy thanks to the near darkness and necessarily high ISO numbers that the photographers had to use to get a shot), we wearily made our way to the car, and did not get back until gone 11pm. Ten minutes of driving around looking for a parking space delayed the last cup of tea of the day further.

Whilst drinking said tea, sitting at a table in the back garden of our rented terraced house, I processed some photos that I had taken earlier in the day. I will post them shortly.

The mood in the room today is good, the sun is out, the site has a massive amount of traffic, and another long day of tennis stretches ahead of us... oh, and before I forget, a pinch and a punch on the first day of the month, and no returns.

"Henman Hill"? "Murray Mound"? Why do they keep changing the name? Let's plan ahead for all future generations of British players and call it "Heap of Sh*t".

:)

(Naturally, I'll be quite happy to eat my words when Murray wins the Final)

HaHa!!

Yes - it would be great to see Al Murray in the final. But I fear he has as much chance as Bill Murray.
